It took a month but the snow pile is gone

The picture on the left was taken on March 16 when we despaired of ever finding the flower bed underneath the snow pile.

This afternoon, C shoveled the last of it into the yard to melt.

Will the black flies come and go while you are away? Hope you have a nice trip.

no, sadly, the black flies will linger until the fourth of July. My hope is to get the flower beds cleaned out before I leave so that they can burst forth while I'm gone.

Hurray! The garden is almost free to start growing. Bet you can't wait to get out there. By the time you get back from your trip, you should have lots growing! Can't wait to see what comes up for you.

Before and After- I like it. Great sign of hope for things to come, but oh, it was such a long time waiting.
Today's the first day I've had no heat on at all in any part of our apartment. Hurray!

Well, that's a reason for a party!

Has this been the longest winter in New England?

Have a good trip, Beth. When you return, I hope you see some yellow or blues in the garden.

Beckie, The Elementary, and Mary,
It has definitely been good melting weather lately and as I pull the leaves from the beds, I am finding lots of little sprouts. It should be starting to pop when I get back from Chile. I don't know if this has been the longest winter in history but it has been the longest one since I moved here in 1998. It was fun, though.

Boy, it's nice to see that snow pile gone -- finally!
Hooray for spring!

WOW! But my big question is (and I may just have to blog about this later), what possesses people who slaved at shoveling all winter long go out and shovel on a nice spring day?
