Mama and Baby Grouse

Today we hiked North and South Hancock Mountains in the Pemigewasset Wilderness. On the ridge between the peaks we can across a mama spruce grouse. She turned her back when she saw us and started clucking to gather her babies. There were at least seven scattered about the area and by the time she disappeared from view over a little rise they were all back with her.

Another beautiful hike and two more 4000 footers off my list.

Beth, beautiful views! Congrats on the 2-4000'. How many does that make now? The Mama grouse and babies are so sweet.

Enjoyed your July 4th tribute.

Hike 'em if you got 'em. It rained here today and I tried to see how many naps I could take in one day. :)

Beckie, thanks--that's 41 for me--I'm savings most of the rest for fall when New England hiking is at its best.

Texican, I'm so glad that it rained!

June, thanks I wish we had the camera out before she turned around. It was nice to see the little brood.

A lot of people come form out of state to look for Spruce Grouse and a lot of people never find them.
