Is there a statute of limitations on stuff your kids friends have left at your house?Would you say that if a friend of a daughter left a bag almost six years ago then the bag is up for grabs? Me too. So after six years of lusting for this bag as it hung on a peg in my hallway, I threw caution, patience and good manners to the wind and claimed it as my nature bag. It has pockets for guide books and binoculars a
nd a big pouch for the camera and room for a water bottle on the side--I am OUTFITTED.So with my new bag, I went off into the woods to see what I could see.

ichen along the path and something that I believe is a lichen but that I have not been able to identify. Ideas welcome.My mom felt up to walking with me and we made it down to the river. We found a few trees that looked like the beavers had recently been at work but nothing like the activity that we saw l
ast fall and they have not repaired the dam. Their two lodges are still in the river, but do not have any noticeable fresh improvements. So, I don't know what to think about the beavers--the ice will be in soon but I'll keep checking over the next few weeks.

Absolutely ...enjoy YOUR new bag. We just dumped wine (in a bottle he swigged out of)that our son's fiend left over a year ago. He was told several times early on to come get it but never did so now in vinegar state it is gone!

I love the name of the red lichen. I haven't seen anything like that here, nor heard the name before. Your beavers may have moved farther up or down stream. But glad you and your Mom had a good walk in the woods. Ice-soon?? Say it isn't so.
I used to see that lichen in Vermont--never knew a name for it.
Good for you on claiming the bag! What happened to the bees? Glad for the update on the beavers. What is that white stuff on the tree in the bottom photo? Every time you talk about going for a walk or a hike I so wish I was there to go with you!

I think your white fuzzy stuff is a colony of woolly aphids, I'm not sure which kind. I like your blog, Beth! And hey, what are the chances of having two people who spell their name "Kathie" comment on the same post?
