And.........we're back

We left our beautiful land of lakes and mountains and headed to the big city. The weekend was all that we had hoped for but isn't coming home about the sweetest thing ever?

Glad you are back. I'll be off the blog for about four days. We're going to mom's 88th B-Day tomorrow. I'll be on autopost. Pappy

Oh Happy Birthday, sweet Aunt. Give her big hugs for me.

Whenever I traveled as a youngster, Mom would always comment that one of the most beautiful sights of our whole trip was looking at the mountains as we drove into Canton. Now when I come home from a long trip and drive into Canton and see the mountains I appreciate their beauty. Glad to hear that you made it back!

It's true, isn't it? There really is no place like home. Glad you all had a good time away Beth! :c)

SJ, what does that country song say, "the view I love the most is from my front porch looking in" or something like that. Anyway, it's good to be home and to catch up on my blog reading--sounds like you are having a perfect summer.

Jayne,Thanks, it's good to be back and catch up on my reading, I missed your perfect pictures and cheerful prose!

For me it is the Maine/NH bridge. There have been trips in my life that just the signs saying "To All Maine Points" have made me cry.

There's something about the little landmarks: if you've been overseas, just getting off the ground and headed home is big. If you've been in the midwest, crossing the Mississippi; re-entering New England; the "Welcome to Maine: The Way Life Should Be" signs; and turning off of Rte. 4 onto 108 (depending upon where you've been, of course). I've been from other places, but I can't think of a better place to come home to.

Beth, so glad you and C had a good get away. We all need to recharge our batteries once in a while. But, you are right, in the end home is the best!

I agree. Coming home is always a highlight of a weekend away :o)

New York City! It's been years since I've been there...

I love to come home from a trip. There's only so long that you can be away before home draws you back. Glad your time away was happy.

Glad you had a good trip. Cities are nice to visit, but not as nice for a home base.

My husband, Gus, would heartily agree with you! Right now, Maine looks wonderfully refreshing, but I still remember the photo of the cars emerging from the melting winter snow!
