This house was built in 1888, and tonight with Charlie in Orono for a class and the kids all scattered about the country, it seems kind of creepy.
I have lived here for a long time and there have been other nights when I was alone so why tonight does it seem full of ghosts and shadows?
There have been violent thunderstorms all evening and sirens screaming their way to some unknown event north of town--so maybe that's it.

Nothing like a night alone to make the old imagination run wild. No one there to rationalize those creaks and moans that all houses make (especially on a stormy night). Get your Teddy bear and flashlight out before you turn in. Sleep tight.
How scary Beth. I'd have been creeped out too.
Your little post makes me shiver! I used to be very frightened at night when I was alone, but after having children, I never was afraid again. Must have been all those night time feedings that desensitized me. Plus we have a dog who is brave!
Wow! The storm was pretty bad here at the Pond, and there was a brief moment that we thought a woods fire had been started. Thanks for the link to the paper!
Our thunderstorms have been horable recently!
We've had the same storms, every day there is lightning. I don't like the dark and I keep a camp lamp nearby at all times, just in case.
Strange how everything seems better in the light.
I am certainly feeling vindicated in our decision to pull the Boy from his game last month!!
Spooky. And eek! that photo....Definitely the thunderstorms...they spell Atmosphere with a capital A.
Your descriptive ability is impressive....your post should be labelled "Things that go bump in the night".
I hate being home all alone in a thunderstorm too, Beth. I would be hiding under the covers with the dog and cat right next to me!
