Friday

It's been a busy week and hard to find the time to write my blog or even to follow other ones, but a few posts have blown through the clutter in my life and mind and grabbed my attention.

Jayne has written a series over the past week re-counting her experience the week before on a jury in a child maltreatment case. She did a very good job of explaining the case and the deliberations and it gives us all a little window into the mind of a juror.

My work is primarily in cases where there has been abuse or neglect of a child and I write obliquely about it from time to time in this space but Jayne's artful handling of the trial and the interest shown by her commenters made me think that I should start sharing more of my work. All of my cases are highly confidential but with care certain aspects and principles can be shared.

Another post that woke me up and had tears running down my cheeks this morning was one from Grace, Every Day and it said "If you read nothing else today, please read this post." I did and agree. Read it. You won't be sorry.

Sniff, Sniff...as usual, Beth, even your links provide warmth and soul satisfying fare. And, as you are busy, I can see that you find the right places to read and refresh or recharge from your own burden of work. As I think I've mentioned before, you also show great loyalty and compassion, which is in short supply and is highly commendable. Have a blessed weekend,

Beth, I don't know if I should thank you for the link or not. She writes with such beauty and compassion-made me search my soul for answers to unasked questions. it has been a difficult few weeks here with many emotions going in all directions. Maybe this did help to put things in perspective.

I wish you would write more about our work. You show such a compassion for the people you try to help.

Sharon, thank you so much but, you know, I think loyalty and compassion are in larger supply than it seems sometimes. I think most people are kind, compassionate and loyal--it's just the few that aren't that mess it up for the rest of us.

Beckie, Wasn't that something? I agree it raised a lot of questions--and isn't that how life is--there are rarely any easy answers. Right and wrong can't be boiled down to a sound bite.

Beth, I will never be able to thank you enough to offering to listen to me that day of the verdict as I tried to decompress and process it all.

I also read Beth's link and have added her to my Bloglines. I used to work in NICU and attended many high risk deliveries... it brought back many memories.

Have a beautiful weekend my friend.
